The descriptions of units described in this newsletter 11 are usually these. In European countries, a general agreement is used as an effective instrument to protect workers` rights and support skilled and motivated workers. At the same time, these general sectoral agreements are being used to combat the underground economy and illegal wages. Most construction workers who opt for union representation choose the construction union that corresponds to their trade. There has been little organizing by industrial unions in this area. Union workers maintain a high loyalty to their craft unions. This is partly due to the health, social security and pension services and the social institutions that these unions offer. The introduction of a specific business card is considered to be the main regulation of the new agreement and constitutes a permanent requirement of workers in this sector (CY0807039I). In particular, the MLSI will issue all workers in the industry with an employment certificate covering each worker`s occupation. The trade unions believe that this is a necessary condition for combating undclared work and will also contribute to the introduction of necessary professional qualification standards for those who wish to work in this sector.
