A trade agreement signed between more than two parties (usually neighbouring or in the same region) is considered multilateral. They face the main obstacles – to content negotiation and implementation. The more countries involved, the more difficult it is to achieve mutual satisfaction. Once this type of trade agreement is governed, it will become a very powerful agreement. The larger the GDP of the signatories, the greater the impact on other global trade relations. The largest multilateral trade agreement is the North American Free Trade Agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico.  The creation of free trade zones is seen as an exception to the nation`s most privileged principle (MFN) in the World Trade Organization (WTO), since the preferences that parties to a free trade area accord exclusively to each other go beyond their membership obligations.  Although GATT Article XXIV authorizes WTO members to establish free trade zones or to conclude interim agreements necessary for their establishment, there are several conditions relating to free trade zones or interim agreements leading to the creation of free trade zones. A government does not need to take concrete steps to promote free trade. This upside-down attitude is called «laissez-faire trade» or trade liberalization. Free trade agreements, which are free trade zones, are generally outside the scope of the multilateral trading system.
However, WTO members must inform the secretariat when new free trade agreements are concluded and, in principle, the texts of free trade agreements are reviewed by the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements.  Although a dispute in free trade areas is not the subject of litigation within the WTO`s dispute resolution body, «there is no assurance that WTO panels will comply and reject jurisdiction in a particular case.»  There are currently a number of free trade agreements in the United States. These include multi-nation agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which includes the United States, Canada and Mexico, and the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), which includes most Central American nations. There are also separate trade agreements with nations, from Australia to Peru. The anti-globalization movement is almost by definition opposed to such agreements, but some groups that are normally allied within this movement, for example the green parties. B, aspire to fair trade or secure trade rules that moderate the real and perceived negative effects of globalization. There are significant differences between unions and free trade zones. Both types of trading blocs have internal agreements that the parties enter into to liberalize and facilitate trade between them. The key difference between unions and free trade zones is their approach to third parties [lack of ambiguity needed]. While a customs union requires all parties to apply and maintain identical external tariffs on trade with non-parties, parties to a free trade area are not subject to such a requirement. Instead, they can set and maintain any customs regime for imports from non-parties, as they see as necessary.
 In a free trade area without harmonized external tariffs, the parties will adopt a system of preferential rules of origin to eliminate the risk of trade diversion [necessary ambiguities].  Economists have attempted to assess the extent to which free trade agreements can be considered public goods.
